Veneer markets are constantly changing and each species has very specific lengths diameters and criteria that logs must be cut into to get the most prestigious prices! This is one of the most important factors to making the most money and is one of the most often overlooked factors even by the. Most season veteran Loggers ! 

Most people don't know this but Ohio actually has a Veneer season! This is extremely important to understand when concidering to sell your Black Walnut Trees or High-End Hardwood Standing Timber! Timber markets are constantly changing-going up and down like the stock markets! Typically in Ohio Timber markets start to go up in mid October each year and peak through the cool fall & winter months. Then each year around May- June Timber markets will start to fall with June -July-August being the worst months to sell and harvest your high-end Timber.

Each species of Timber has very specific lengths, diameters and criteria that buyers are searching for! 

Often times we see miss cut logs even by veteran Logging Companies with years of experience miss cut logs costing them and their clients missed profits! You can have a $8000.00 dollar Veneer Walnut Tree and cut into the wrong lengths be worth $3000.00

Most companies just lack the proper experience in these markets.

If you look at the above picture notice how we rounded the base of each tree and put metal plates on the ends of each tree! This is one of the key ways to tell if the company you are dealing with has experience in Veneer ! Look at their past Walnut or Veneer Logs pictures and see if they have been properly prepped and if the ends of the Logs have plates and look at their past jobs! 

 This is a critical step to properly handling Veneer Logs. It keeps the logs from cracking or splitting wich would cause buyers to make a costly deduction of footage! Cutting the flares off of the base of the trees and properly prepping the Veneer logs will make them look more desirable! This is one of the key factors to making the most money when it comes to selling Veneer and Export Logs.
